Shropshire Council Rangers will be welcoming the president of the Abberley and Malvern Hills Geopark, Chris Darmon as well as <i>Geologists in the Geopark<\/i> for a day of geological discovery!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Between 11am and 4pm, local experts will be on hand to answer your questions and you will be able to learn all about the Geopark. There will be rocks and fossils on display and you will be able to uncover the industrial past of the country park as well as the impact of the ice age on the Severn Valley.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3038\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/SVCP-on-25th-Nov-2009-6-Copy-Copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3038\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3038\" alt=\"The River Severn running through the Country Park. In geological terms the river is a very recent addition having carved out its course over the last 12,000 years<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new geology trial devised by Peter and Cherry Oliver of <i>Geologists in the Geopark <\/i>will be available from the visitor centre. This is a free trail which describes the sandstone, coal spoil, igneous rocks, silica and floodplain which are all within a short distance from the centre. As part of the launch weekend, there will be a free guided walk beginning at 1.30pm.
