The museum can devise sessions to meet your needs and respond to current teaching programmes.\u00a0\u00a0 The following workshops for school groups are offered.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #7a2700;\"><strong>Nursery, Reception, Key Stages 1 and 2 and SEN groups<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4134\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4134\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4134\" src=\"http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/imgID38306154-300x203.jpg\" alt=\"War Horse Joey decorated by children in the activity space \" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/imgID38306154-300x203.jpg 300w, http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/imgID38306154-1024x693.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/imgID38306154-150x102.jpg 150w, http:\/\/geopark.org.uk\/pub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/imgID38306154-400x271.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-4134\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">War Horse Joey decorated by children in the activity space<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Woodland Magic<\/strong>: Working with our collection of British mammal specimens, the children will explore different animal worlds and create a 3D animal habitat using an assortment of collage material and clay.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fighting Armour and Paper Dragons: <\/strong>Children will be able to examine and handle examples of replica armour from different periods, and have fun making origami paper dragons ready for battle!<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Natures Treasure Trove: <\/strong>Be inspired by a wonderful display of rocks, shells and fossils, collected by Victorian fossil hunters and geologists from around the world!\u00a0 Children can observe the shapes, colours and textures and replica patterns by drawing (with charcoal) and make fossil impressions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #7a2700;\"><strong>Reception, Key stages 1 and 2 and SEN groups<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fossil fun!: <\/strong>This activity encourages children to explore and handle our wonderful collection of fossils, rocks and minerals. They will have the opportunity to sort the specimens, make charcoal observation drawings, and create a clay fossil reincarnation. Wonderful specimens!<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Portrait Workshops: <\/strong>The children have the opportunity to study a number of portraits from the museum collection.\u00a0 The paintings reflect varied styles, media and fashion.\u00a0 The class will be able to create a \u2018silhouette\u2019 self-portrait and a portrait of a friend, working in pastel and chalk.\u00a0 Period dressing-up hats will be available to introduce a variety of characters!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Toys of the Past:<\/strong> How are our toys different from those in the past?<br \/>\nAn opportunity for children to discover the magic of our toy collection and to make a simple moving puppet!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #7a2700;\"><strong>Key stage 1 and SEN groups:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Worcester at War\u00a0 &#8211; &#8216;Remembrance&#8217; : <\/strong>Designed to support the teaching of Unit 17. The group can discover our wonderful butterfly and moth collection. Inspired by the incredible shapes and colours, children can create their own 3D\u00a0 insects, and portray working in charcoal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gloves and Shoes: <\/strong>Discover more about our <em>local<\/em> industries, and the tools and materials used to make fine gloves and shoes!<br \/>\nChoose to create a \u20183D\u2019 shoe or glove from collage materials.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #7a2700;\"><strong>Key Stage 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Children in the Second World War:<\/strong>\u00a0 For the last 3 years we have been offering workshops for Key stage 2 groups in The Worcestershire Soldier Galleries, to support the teaching of Unit 9: Children in the Second World War. Using objects, historical sources, stories and role play our aim is to bring the Home Front alive!<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Option 1 &#8216;War time Worcester!&#8217; Led by Paul Harding from the re-enactment group &#8216;Discover History&#8217;.The children will be transported back to war time Britain. They will take on the role of the Civil Defence \u2013 an ARP Warden, a Land Army Girl and a member of the Home Guard! The children will be immersed in the daily activities and drills, and respond to a major bomb hit at the Meco Works, Bromyard Road, Worcester!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Option 2 &#8216;Morton&#8217;s Militia<strong>!&#8217; <\/strong>Led by Gwen Williams from specialist Theatre Group &#8216;Pattern 23&#8217;.This is an adventure story set in wartime Worcester, with characters Jimmy, Liz, Polly, Peter and friends.
