Half Term Fun in the Geopark

There are some fantastic events at Geopark venues this Half Term, with special family activities at Bewdley Museum, Hartlebury Castle, Lapworth Museum of Geology, Worcester Cathedral and The Hive, Worcester.

 

Bewdley Museum as usual have special holiday activities each day Monday – Friday:

Monday – Cotton Summer Caps; Tuesday – Ceramic Dog Planters; Wednesday – Set of 3 Wooden Coasters; Thursday – Dinosaur Sand Art; Friday – Fabric Waist Aprons

£5 per activity per child, limited spaces available.

Worcester Cathedral have free craft activities and you can drop in and meet King John! There will also be crafts available from 10:30am – 3pm Tuesday – Friday, where families can have a go at creating their own stained-glass window or brass rubbing. Other trails and activities available too including a Treasure Hunt and Safari Trail which you can download before visiting.

Hartlebury Castle have Terrific Teddies & Toys Monday to Friday. Bring your favourite teddy bear along for a picnic! Join their teddy bear friends for some fun and games around Hartlebury Castle! Explore the Castle’s beautiful grounds, and enjoy the Castle and Museum’s amazing exhibitions and displays.

Lapworth Museum of Geology have an online Family Event – AlgoRHYTHM From Home: Rock (& Roll!) Cycle. It takes place on zoom on Wed 2nd June 11am-2pm, with performance company Lynnebec leading a fun and engaging online dance workshop for families to explore the Rock n Roll Rock cycle! Free, booking required.

An Archaeology Quest will take place at Malvern Library (2 June) and The Hive, Worcester (4 June) 10am-1pm, organised by Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service. Come and have a go at being an archaeologist and see what you can discover!

Other Geopark venues are open for you to visit and explore the great outdoors. Book a visit to one of The National Trust sites, such as Brockhampton, Dudmaston and Croome, where there’s plenty to explore. Or take a trip to the Wyre Forest and enjoy a walk in the woods.

Cob House Country Park is open to see the animals and have a drink from their café, and you can also go for a walk at Severn Valley Country Park.

The Severn Valley Railway are back running their trains again, and Lapworth Museum of Geology has just reopened.
