Education at Severn Valley Country Park
Severn Valley Country Park offers a variety of educational activities that make for a great morning, afternoon or whole day out. The wonderful rural setting along one of the most beautiful stretches of the River Severn, comprises a great mix of habitats from reclaimed land to semi-natural ancient woodland; fantastic for looking at adaptations to habitats or even taking part in activities such as orienteering and map-reading skills.
All of the activities provided at the Park are delivered by qualified rangers, and have valuable links with the national curriculum in the Key stages 1 & 2 sciences, geography and history.

The World Outside has teamed up with Bodenham Arboretum to provide Forest School and outdoor activities aimed at children and young people. They provide Forest school activities for the under-fives, the 5 to 8 year olds and the 8 to 11 year olds and their families and in the future 11-15 year olds.

Anglo Saxons: With the help of historical interpreters ‘Discover History’ join Bewdley Museum staff and take an in-depth look at life as an Anglo Saxon. Find out who they were, where they originated from and look at their everyday life.
Blitz and Evacuation: An in-depth look at life during World War II with the help of historical interpreters ‘Discover History’. Find out what it felt like to be an evacuee arriving at a billeting office, then climb aboard a Severn Valley Railway heritage train for your evacuation journey between Bewdley and Highley.

Victorian schoolroom at Worcestershire County Museum
As part of their education service pupils can enjoy creative on and off site cross-curricula linked sessions for Key Stages 1, 2 and beyond. Each activity is rich in creativity and language, stretches your pupil’s thinking and reasoning skills, focuses on historic enquiry and offers a number of methods of teaching to suit your children’s different learning styles. Activity sessions can be tailor made to suit your requirements and your group’s abilities.
The Schoolroom: The museums school ma’am, Miss Proper, will receive your class for instruction in the manner of Victorian times. Appropriate costume can be provided.

The Wyre Forest Discovery Centre
The Wyre Forest Discovery Centre, Forestry Commission, is the ideal place to get groups engaged with nature and the great outdoors. A wide range of a programmes for schools which enhance the National Curriculum, and a range of fun activities for children and families all in a safe and fun learning environment are offered at the Discovery Centre. Interactive displays about the forest, wildlife and wider environmental issues get the children engaged with nature before they venture into the forest.

When it comes to educational visits, Cob House and Berrow Farm set in 385 acres offers bespoke packages that meet the individual needs of a wide range of schools accommodating children of all ages and abilities. They offer packages tailored to respond to certain aspects of the school curriculum to suit the individual needs of the children and the school budget.

Worcestershire Archive & Archaeology Service (WAAS) can help you and your pupils Explore the Past to bring history to life and show how national history connects with local history in Worcestershire. They have a wealth of historical information as well as staff knowledge and expertise. They can help your children find out more about the county’s past, supplementing generic information in the national curriculum.
Sessions are based in The Hive, Worcester but WAAS can also come out to schools to deliver many of the programmes. The programmes listed below are primarily aimed at KS2, but WASS have worked with pupils from Year 1 to sixth form.
